Welcome to Goddess of the Horde!
Goddess of the Horde is a guild for female players. Your toons might be male or female, but the players are all women or girls (or at least so they say!).

We are a social and leveling guild that aims to be friendly, helpful and drama-free. Whether you've been playing WoW for five years or five minutes, you are welcome here. Several of us are grandmothers--we'll take care of you.

Your alts are welcome, even if you don't play them much. Nobody gets booted for inactivity. Promotions are by level, tabards are free in the bank, and we are open to all levels and classes.

Since several of our members have alts in raiding guilds, if you decide in time that you want to find a guild that is more hardcore, we'll help you find something when you're ready. But we think you'll want to have at least one toon hang out with us. We're that nice.

        How to set up Ventrilo
        Myredd
        What is Ventrilo?
It is a program that lets you chat live with others as you play and even as you don't play. It can be active inside and outside the game.

        Where do I get it?
The guild owns a server that hosts the Ventrilo program. (See below for how to contribute to keep it going.) But there is no cost for users. You can download the client for free at www.ventrilo.com. You must do this to use ventrilo.

        What else do I need?
You will need a microphone and speakers. Those with USB ports seem to work the best. These can be separate or integrated in a headset. It depends whether you want those around you to hear our guild chat or whether you want others to hear what is happening around you!

How do I set it up?
Once you have downloaded the client, you will need to set it up so that it will find our particular guild server. There are good instructions on setting up ventrilo at www.ventrilo.com/tutorial.php. Our particular settings are:

        Hostname: goddess.clanvent.com
        Port: 5915
        Password: azeroth

Can I help pay for this?
While we used the private vent server of one of our members for many months, enough are now using it that we need our own server supported by the guild as a whole. Our server is used by members of Goddess of the Horde and also our sister guild on Winterhoof, Goddess, and our brother guild, Lords of the Horde.

In order to get a better deal, Myredd (Anne) paid the first year of $163.80 up front. You can reimburse her and help store up funds for the second year through paypal here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=9330677. This can also help pay for both the Goddess of the Horde and Goddess websites. Accounting of funds will be provided to anyone who requests it.

        Goddess Guidelines
        saida
Be A Female - This is a guild for real-life females. Your toons can be male or female but we are a guild of women and girls. You don't have to submit DNA to join, but we will remove members who are discovered to be males. We don't dislike you guys, and we're more than happy to group with you, especially if your wife or gf is in the guild. But this is a guild for female players. Please respect that. Guys can be part of the action by joining our brother guild, Lords of the Horde. Pst Dragonsbane in-game for an invite.

Recruitment – There are lots of potential goddesses out there, and we want them in our guild. Help people in need and make friends outside the guild. Be an ambassador for the Goddesses -- when you find a potential goddess that you like, invite her to the guild.

Begging – Do not ask strangers for free goods, services, or gold. It tarnishes the Guild as a whole. Also, please do not ask guild members for gold. If you need gold, please pst the Guild Master (Hera) or an officer (Muses) and make sure to give a good reason. They will discuss your request and get back to you.

Act Like A Goddess – Aid other guildies – give directions, offer advice, help with quests, etc. Remember – we all started out as “little newbies.” We are a team!

Respect Hera and the Muses – Our Guild Master (Hera) and Officers (Muses) work hard to make sure our guild runs smoothly. Please respect them and their requests. In addition, if you have a problem within the guild, please pst them so that they can help resolve it in a constructive manner.

Offer Suggestions – The guild is our home in WoW. If you have suggestions to improve the guild, please pst Hera or one of the Muses.

Give Back to the Guild – Goddesses are giving! Guild contributions are not mandatory; however, we ask that you please deposit items you think other guildies could use into the guild bank. No gray items please. Also, as you advance in levels and make more gold, please consider making monetary contributions to the guild bank.

Guild Chat – Be considerate of others in guild chat – no highly offensive chat please. Remember, we do have some young guildies and want to keep chat Goddess rated if at all possible. Also, be supportive but lift the mood if it starts getting heavy. It's fine to share difficult RL situations with guildies, but sometimes it's better to take the conversation to private chat. Those playing WoW to escape may find too much public discussion of problems overwhelming.

Follow the Blizz TOS and Don't Share Your Account! Just a reminder that Blizz only allows for sharing an account if you are a parent sharing with a minor child. While we are not going to automatically report you for sharing with a partner, friend, or whatever, if there are guild problems caused by the person sharing your account, we might be forced to /gkick your toons. We will give you a warning first, but sometimes that is hard if the warning is only sent in game and picked up by the offending party. Please be sure you register on this site or on Facebook so we can have a regular e-mail to contact you if problems arise.

Have Fun – LOL and enjoy your time in WoW with your fellow Goddesses to the fullest!

        Birthday Party Instructions!
        Myredd
Whenever a guild member has a birthday we celebrate by hiding and giving gold away to low-level players who find us. Here's how to participate.

Of course in addition to the hiding and gold-giveaway, you should always send a gift of some sort to the birthday girl! Wrapping paper can be found in X-roads and Orgrimmar.

        1. You need to create an announcement macro that says:

Woot! A Goddess is having a birthday and wants to celebrate by giving gold to someone under level 20! A member of <Goddess of the Horde> is [location]. First person under level 20 to find her and /tickle her gets 10g!

(Macro instruction in a separate news item for those who need it.)

        2. On the birthday (check the game calendar) show up at the Undercity Courtyard to receive the gold to give, and we will decide who is going where and deploy. It's much more fun if you have voice chat enabled.

        3. You hide in your appointed area and keep hitting the announcement until someone finds you. Unfortunately those on trial accounts cannot receive the gold since they cannot trade with other players.

        4. When you are found, open trade and give the person 10g. You might also want to make a second announcement that says: The Goddess has been found by [name]. Congratulations!

        Join us on Facebook!
        Myredd
Goddess of the Horde now has a Facebook group. While anyone can view the group description, membership is limited to guild members. If you're a member of the guild, click on "request to join" and be sure to say who you are in-game.

You can find the group by searching on "Goddess of the Horde" in the Facebook search bar.

If you'd like to become a member of the guild, fill out an application here. We'd love to have you!

How to make an announcement macro
        Myredd
        1. Open chat and type /macro.
        2. Select "new"
        3. Give your macro a name and select an icon to represent it.
        4. Type the text into the command box. (Birthday announcement can be found in the birthday news post)
        5. Go to the beginning of your text and type /g and then a space. This will make the macro announce to the guild. The macro will save automatically.
        6. When your wording is done and the /g is in front of it, drag the icon to your action bar.
        7. Click on the macro to test it in guild chat.
        8. If your macro shows up correctly in guild chat, then type /macro again and change the beginning command from /g to /1. Then it will announce in general chat.

But don't hit the macro again until you're ready to make the announcement to the world!
